Slow Start...

I feel as if I am off to a very slow start to this course, I have had to overcome quite a few hurdles along the way. I am trying to push through and work as much as possible on this to establish exactly what I am being asked to do. Has anyone else had any issues with getting started?? I am struggling to make time for myself to work. Last week there were lots of staffing rearrangements, there were parents open evenings and the start of lots of the extra curricular clubs after school. If you hadn't already guessed I am dance teacher in a secondary school. Not only has it been a MENTAL start to the year, I am also in charge of a form which gives me lots more responsibilities this year. The start of this week for me has not only been a slow start but in fact a stand still as I have been quite poorly as well as my little boy which resulted in 2 Skype calls missed this week which i am gutted about! ***Positive interception*** We're both happy and healthy again! Starting back Skype. Module 2 Starts now...

It was really beneficial to join the staring back Skype last week. It reset my head to study mode and reminded me of some of the things I had missed in terms of the communication on blogs etc. It was really good to hear from some of the other people starting on Module Two like me. Lots of them had the same struggles and worries last year. I think it is really important to remember when you are struggling to find the answers you are probably not the only one asking these questions. It also helped to listen to some of the questions the people joining on Module One had, as I remember feeling as anxious as them at the beginning. Finding A Focus - Little Wonders

Finding A Focus Finding a focus was surprisingly straight forward for me. I started off thinking I was never going to find something I want to plan my inquiry on. However, looking back on Module 1 I have a clear interest in one particular area of learning. I want to look further into how children with difficult up bringings, maybe a separated family, children that are 'looked after' maybe in foster care or children who have behavioural issues and how that effects them in a learning environment. How does it change the way we should approach or talk to them? What kind of language should we use? I work in a school that is based in a deprived area and a high percentage of the children come from difficult backgrounds and are taken into care for example. I would like to learn as much as I can in 12 weeks how best to make an impact on they're learning and how I could potentially help them in the classroom.
