Using Web 2.0 Everyday...

As a teacher, I tend to take for granted how much I use Web 2.0 on a day to day basis. It wasn't until asking my self the questions,What  do I use web 2.0 for and how it benefits my practice that I began to widen my thoughts about it.

Everyday consists of using a computer to communicate:

  • Sending emails to staff/students/parents
  • Using YouTube for music/demonstrations
  • Skyping staff on the other campus for briefings
  • Sending out information to parents via Instagram/Facebook
  • Using SIMS to access student profiles and communication logs
  • PowerPoint and projectors to deliver lessons

I think using Web 2.0 enhances how efficient I am with communication and organisation. I have wondered whether I am using it to its full potential and what I could do if I found out more.

I think technology world is constantly expanding and developing, personally I intend to keep up with it as it seems the world is going in this direction.

The video above is a really eye opening watch, it shows how many jobs are now being done without any real people, only robots. It makes me think about in 10 or 20 years time how many more will there be?
The first ever PC was introduced in the 1970's only 50 years ago. Look how far we have come.
